TBILISI – Former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili has called on his supporters to hold a protest against, in his opinion, the rigged presidential election in Freedom Square in Tbilisi on Dec. 2.

“This election has questioned the existence of the Georgian state. We will never recognize the results of the falsified election. The whole world doubted the results of the presidential election in Georgia. Who we are to recognize this election after that,” Saakashvili said in a video link-up from Amsterdam on Nov. 29.

“We will demand announcing an early parliamentary election, which will help us get rid of the current slavery system in Georgia,” Saakashvili said in his ardent speech, which was disrupted by the messenger software, and his words were incomprehensible, because his supporters, who were present in the Tbilisi State Philharmonics, interrupted not always distinct speech of their leader with loud applause and cries like “Misha, come here!”

As reported earlier in the day, the Strength in Unity political association, in which the former ruling party United National Movement is included, plans to hold a large-scale demonstration on Rustaveli Avenue in Tbilisi on Dec. 2.

The protest will be peaceful, presidential candidate from the United National Movement Grigol Vashadze, who, according to the Georgian Central Elections Commission, was defeated in the second round of the presidential election, said at a meeting with supporters of this political association on Nov. 29.

The Strength in Unity does not recognize the election returns and demands holding an early parliamentary election, Vashadze said.
