TBILISI – The United States will continue to support Georgia and cooperate with Tbilisi, U.S. President Donald Trump said.

“The U.S. remains steadfast in supporting Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders,” Trump said in a letter to Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili congratulating him and the entire Georgian nation on Independence Day celebrated on May 26. The Georgian governmental press service published the letter.

“Since independence, Georgia has emerged as a democratic leader and a contributor to global security,” the U.S. president said.

“In a region that faces insecurity and outside pressure, Georgia has shown courage and determination in charting its own future. We will continue to support that choice, as Georgian independence and democracy remain an inspiration to the world,” Trump said in the letter.

“My administration and I look forward to continuing our work together to achieve peace, prosperity, and security for our two countries,” he said.
