CHISINAU – Fugitive Moldovan oligarch Vladimir Plahotniuc has been added to the list of individuals subject to sanctions, United States Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on Twitter on Jan. 13.
“Vladimir Plahotniuc’s corrupt actions undermined the rule of law and severely compromised the independence of democratic institutions in Moldova. Today, I publicly designate him. The U.S. stands with Moldova in its fight against corruption,” Pompeo said.
