Voice of America: US, allies fly bombers, fighter jets over Korean Peninsula

A US Air Force B-1B Lancer assigned to the 9th Expeditionary Bomb Squadron, deployed from Dyess Air Force Base, Texas, takes off on July 7, from Andersen Air Force Base, Guam to conduct a sequenced bilateral mission with South Korean F-15 and Koku Jieitai (Japan Air Self-Defense Force) F-2 fighter jets.

The U.S. Air Force flew two B-1B bombers over the Korean Peninsula Saturday, accompanied by South Korean and Japanese jet fighters.

The U.S. Pacific Command said the mission was in “direct response” to North Korea’s “escalatory launch” of intercontinental ballistic missiles July 3 and July 28.
