You're reading: Wall Street Journal: EU parliament asks UKIP to pay back money used for Brexit campaigning

The European Parliament on Nov. 21 said that the euroskeptic United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP) misused hundreds of thousands of euros from the European Union for local polling and Brexit campaigning in 2015.

The funding was obtained by the UKIP-dominated Alliance for Direct Democracy in Europe, which was ordered to pay back €172,655 ($184,000) and will not receive the remaining €248,345 of the EU grant allocated to the party for 2015, the Parliament said.
