The Netherlands has signed contracts with Ukraine to produce more than 600,000 drones, Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans announced via X on Tuesday, with a value of about €500 million ($580 million), according to the Dutch Ministry of Defense.
“The brutal Russian airstrikes underscore the importance of our continued support to Ukraine.” Brekelmans said. “We have signed contracts with Ukrainian companies to produce 600,000 drones.”
The Netherlands will also send a new military aid package to Ukraine valued at roughly €175 million ($203 million). This includes anti-drone radar systems and 20 unmanned modular Ermine casualty evacuation vehicles.
In addition, the Netherlands is providing €80 million ($93 million) for drones through the International Drone coalition, adding to an earlier investment of €20 million ($23 million).
The ministry said this support complements a recent €400 million ($464 million) military aid package. That package includes more than 100 vessels such as patrol boats, transport boats, interceptors, special operations ships, and marine drones.
Brekelmans previously said that after delivering 24 F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine’s air force, drones have become a new priority for Dutch support of Ukraine’s military.
