Ukraine’s military intelligence (HUR) on Thursday handed over replicas of its MAGURA V5, W6P, and V7 naval drones to Kyiv’s National Museum of the History of Ukraine in the Second World War, turning some of the country’s most advanced naval weapons into public exhibits.
The drones, credited with sinking or damaging multiple Russian warships in the Black Sea, have become symbols of Ukraine’s technological edge and resilience in its war against Russia.
“Today is truly symbolic. Ukrainians – and the world – can now see the history of this war for independence,” said Andriy Yusov, spokesperson for HUR. “We fight inspired, technologically, and skillfully.”
The MAGURA V5 has been used to strike 16 Russian warships, according to Ukrainian officials. The W6P, armed with R-73 air-to-air missiles, has destroyed two Russian Mi-8 helicopters and damaged another. The latest V7 version, fitted with AIM-9 missiles, has shot down two Russian Su-30 fighters.
“These drones are now part of Ukraine’s history,” said the commander of Group 13, the HUR special unit operating the systems. “But for us, it is not enough. We continue working to destroy the enemy and change the battlefield.”
The models were designed specifically for the museum and do not affect combat readiness, officials said.
HUR also warned that Russia is trying to replicate Ukrainian naval drone technology after a series of failed tests, posing new threats to civilian and port infrastructure.
The exhibit, unveiled on the eve of Ukraine’s Military Intelligence Day, will remain part of the museum’s permanent collection documenting the country’s ongoing fight for independence.
In May, Ukraine’s HUR team unveiled its newest sea drones for the first time – unmanned systems that have already proven their effectiveness by destroying multiple Russian ships, helicopters, and aircraft.
MAGURA sea drones are cutting-edge technological weapons that have helped the HUR’s special unit, Group 13, dramatically shift the balance in Ukraine’s favor in the Black Sea.
HUR chief Lt. Gen. Kyrylo Budanov was also present at the classified presentation.
The MAGURA attack drones publicly showcased by the Ukrainian intelligence service for the first time include:
- The well-known ship-killer MAGURA V5, Ukraine’s main naval drone in the fight against Russia’s fleet, is capable of carrying up to 320 kg of payload and equipped with a combat module featuring a machine gun.
- The multi-purpose platform MAGURA V6P has a range of up to 540 nautical miles.
- The missile-carrying MAGURA V7, which made history by destroying an enemy warplane, can carry up to 650 kg of payload and operate within a range of up to 800 nautical miles.
- Another MAGURA V7 is equipped with a heavy machine gun combat module.
