Russian forces launched a massive overnight drone attack on Sept. 27, striking a critical infrastructure facility in Vinnytsia region, regional and military officials said Saturday.
Natalia Zabolotna, the first deputy head of the Vinnytsia regional administration, wrote on Facebook that the region was “under attack by enemy UAVs,” confirming a hit on a critical infrastructure site.
By morning, Zabolotna said the fire had been extinguished and train service resumed. No casualties were reported, according to Ukraine’s State Emergency Service.
Vinnytsia lies in central Ukraine, about 200 kilometers (125 miles) southwest of Kyiv.
Ukraine’s Air Force said Russia launched 115 attack drones overnight, of which 97 were destroyed or neutralized. More than 70 of them were Shahed drones, officials said.
Seventeen drones struck targets across six locations, while debris from downed drones fell in two more areas, according to the military.
“The attack continues — new groups of attack drones are moving in from the north. Please follow safety measures,” the Air Force said.
