Ukrainian Spy Unit Obliterates Russian 'Rubicon' Drone Unit in Targeted Attack

“Rubicon” specializes in the use of combat drones and is considered one of Russia’s most advanced and well-funded military formations.

Ukraine’s spy unit operatives destroyed a Russian command post and killed several officers and drone operators in a precision strike on occupied Avdiivka in the Donetsk region.

The Main Directorate of Intelligence (HUR) said Monday that its fighters uncovered a Russian headquarters belonging to the so-called “Rubicon” unit inside a partially destroyed building in the city.

According to the agency, “Rubicon” specializes in the use of combat drones and is considered one of Russia’s most advanced and well-funded military formations.

Using precise coordinates, Ukrainian forces launched an FP-2 drone armed with more than 100 kilograms (220 pounds) of explosives at the site, HUR said.

The explosion destroyed the building and eliminated the Russian officers and drone operators inside.

The intelligence agency described the operation as a “measured act of retribution,” adding that every war crime committed against the Ukrainian people “will meet with just punishment.”

Separately, early on Sunday, Nov. 2, HUR fighters destroyed several Russian air defense facilities in occupied Crimea.

“The specialists of the HUR’s Active Operations Department struck another expensive asset of the muscovites’ air defense system in temporarily occupied Crimea,” the agency said in a statement accompanying video footage of strikes, which Kyiv Post was unable to independently verify.

According to the report, the strikes destroyed a control point of a Russian S-400 Triumph air defense division, along with a 92N6E multifunctional radar and equipment from the autonomous power system of the S-400 command post.

HUR also reported destroying an AORL-1AS airfield surveillance radar and a P-18 Terek radar.
