Ukrainian drones attacked and repelled a Russian armored column in the Dobropillya sector, several kilometers from the embattle city of Pokrovsk, on Saturday.
All told, one tank, nine MT-LB and BREM recovery vehicles, four all-terrain vehicles, and a bridgelayer were hit by the 1st “Azov” Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine.
Movement was halted along several routes at once, according to a Telegram post from the 1st Corps, which claims to have destroyed yet another Russian armored group.
“The remnants of the invaders’ personnel are being destroyed right now,” the 1st corps said in the post on Saturday.
While the video shows armored vehicles being hit on snow-covered ground, Kyiv Post has not been able to independently verify the exact time or location of the footage.
The 1st Corps said: “The enemy armored vehicles hit today are only a part of their losses in the Dobropillya sector. Soon we will announce the exact number of losses of the Russian Armed Forces in Dobropillya in the results of the year from the 1st Corps of the National Guard ‘Azov.’”
Much of the work in repelling the attack has been attributed to the Lasar’s Group, a separate special forces unit of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces (USF).
Russian forces frequently attempt to break through Ukrainian lines with armored columns, even though drone warfare has for all intent and purposes rendered that tactic ineffective.
In August of this year. Ukrainian forces destroyed a Russian military column using FPV drones, according to a video published by the Omega Special Purpose Center of Ukraine’s National Guard.
