Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Romania on Wednesday alongside First Lady Olena Zelenska to attend the Bucharest Nine Summit, which is also being joined by Northern European countries.

In a statement published upon arrival, Zelensky said a series of important bilateral meetings are planned on the sidelines of the summit as Kyiv pushes for stronger international security cooperation and additional military support.

“All of us in the world need joint decisions and joint work so that there is more security for everyone,” Zelensky said.

The Ukrainian leader added that discussions would focus on securing additional resources for Ukraine’s defense and expanding the “Drone Deals” format aimed at strengthening drone production and cooperation with partners.

During the visit, Olena Zelenska is expected to meet with Romania’s first lady and participate in the signing of memoranda on the accession of Romanian universities to the Global Coalition of Ukrainian Studies.
