Nearly $5.5 billion has been mobilized through Ukraine’s Priority Requirements List (PURL) program, and the funds are already being used to support military supplies, Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Ihor Zhovkva said in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
“PURL is a very important program,” Zhovkva said, thanking NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte for continuing to promote and implement the initiative.
“As of today, nearly $5.5 billion has been mobilized, and these funds are already working,” he said.
PURL, or the Priority Ukrainian Requirements List, is a NATO-supported mechanism designed to coordinate and accelerate military assistance for Ukraine. The PURL program is a joint US-NATO mechanism designed to speed up deliveries of American-made weapons and equipment to Ukraine. Partner countries fund purchases based on Ukraine’s priority needs, with contributions pooled through a NATO-managed fund.
According to Zhovkva, 25 NATO member states and three partner countries outside the alliance are currently financially participating in the initiative.
Zhovkva rejected reports suggesting that supplies under the program were not being delivered.
“We all see what is happening in the world,” he said. “And, of course, the first and most important thing supplied under this program is interceptor missiles for anti-ballistic systems, for Patriot systems.”
According to Zhovkva, the weapons and ammunition currently being financed under the program are already available in stockpiles and can be used immediately.
“What our partners are able to finance today, and what the American side can supply, is being supplied,” he said.
Zhovkva added that while attracting funding has become more difficult, the program continues to function and deliver results.
