Ukraine’s General Staff said on Monday that a nighttime strike on a Russian military-industrial facility in the Rostov region destroyed two workshops and damaged four others.
The strike targeted the Kamensky Combine in Kamensk-Shakhtinsky on the night of Aug. 16, according to the General Staff.
“Two workshops destroyed, four damaged,” the Ukrainian military said in a statement.
The Kamensky Combine is part of Russia’s military-industrial complex. The plant produces solid rocket fuel used for ammunition for the Uragan, Smerch and Tornado-S multiple-launch rocket systems, as well as for several missile systems and air-launched weapons.
However, the General Staff did not provide details on the weapons used in the strike or independently verifiable estimates of the damage.
Ukraine targets Russian military industry
The Ukrainian military said the strike was part of ongoing efforts to target key Russian military and defense-industrial facilities.
The General Staff also confirmed damage to the Zapsibneftekhim petrochemical complex in the Tyumen region following an Aug. 10 strike, and to multiple refining units at the Orsknefteorgsintez oil refinery in the Orenburg region from an Aug. 11 attack.
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that Ukrainian forces had executed long-range strikes against several strategic facilities deep inside Russia.
According to him, Ukrainian-made “Flamingo” missiles were used to strike the Progress Space Rocket Centre in the Samara region, located approximately 900 kilometers (559 miles) from the Ukrainian border.
Additionally, an attack was confirmed on an oil facility in the port of Ust-Luga in the Leningrad region, located over 800 kilometers (497 miles) away.
