Explosions rang out in Kyiv around midnight on Thursday, April 10, as air defense systems responded to a drone attack that sparked a fire, caused structural damage, and left one person trapped under debris.
The head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Tymur Tkachenko, stated that falling debris from a downed UAV sparked a fire in a non-residential area of the city’s Holosiivskyi district.
Tkachenko also reported that in the Darnytskyi district, drone debris destroyed a private building. According to preliminary information, one person is trapped.
An air raid alert was issued in Kyiv at 11:34 p.m. on April 9 due to the threat of incoming drones. Authorities urged residents to immediately take shelter and remain there until the all-clear was given.
Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko later reported on Telegram that three people were injured in Russia’s overnight attack on the capital.
“One was hospitalized, while two others received on-site treatment from medics,” the message read.
Klitschko in his latest report clarified another hospitalization following Russia’s overnight attack.
“In total, four people were injured. Two were hospitalized, and two received medical aid on the spot,” he wrote.
In addition to Kyiv, Russian forces also launched an overnight drone attack on the southern city of Mykolaiv.
Ten people were injured in Mykolaiv as a result of falling debris from downed Russian drones. Residential buildings, an administrative structure, dozens of garages, and vehicles were damaged across the city.
“Due to falling debris and the shockwave, nine apartment buildings, three vehicles, 30 garages, and one administrative building were damaged. Fires broke out in one apartment and a garage cooperative,” said Vitalii Kim, head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, on Telegram.
Of the 10 people injured in the attack, a 29-year-old woman and a 59-year-old man remain hospitalized in moderate condition as of the morning.
