A Russian drone attack in Ukraine’s Sumy region killed a family of four, including two children, as Moscow also targeted Kyiv and Chernihiv with overnight drone barrages.

Four members of a single family, including two children, ages 4 and 6, were killed in a Russian drone attack in the Sumy region, regional governor Oleh Hrihorov reported.

He said on Telegram that early Tuesday morning, Sept. 30, Russia struck a residential building in the village of Chernechchyna, Krasnopil community, with a drone.

“A couple with two small children lived in this house. Unfortunately, no one managed to escape,” Hrihorov wrote.

Rescuers recovered the bodies of the parents and their sons from under the rubble.

“This is a terrible and irreparable loss for the entire community and the region. I express my sincere condolences to the family and friends,” Hrihorov added.

On Monday evening, Sept. 29, air alerts were sounded across northern, eastern, and central Ukraine due to drone launches. In the Kyiv region, air defenses intercepted targets, preventing successful hits on critical infrastructure.

However, in the Brovary district, a woman born in 1950 was injured, suffering from acute stress and a hypertensive crisis. A private home, outbuildings, and a car were also damaged.

On Tuesday morning, Sept. 30, Russian forces also launched a massive strike on Bobrovytsia in the Chernihiv region, damaging an energy facility and leaving over 26,000 residents without power.

ChernihivOblenergo reported that repair crews had begun restoration work but warned it would proceed cautiously due to security risks. Ukrzaliznytsia also announced train cancellations and delays between Kyiv and Nizhyn due to the attack.
