Ukraine Hits Two Oil Facilities in Russia in Overnight Drone Wave

Ukrainian drones struck two oil depots in Russia’s Tambov and Voronezh regions overnight, sparking fires and damaging fuel tanks, regional officials said.

Two oil depots in Russia’s Tambov and Voronezh regions were hit in overnight Ukrainian drone strikes early on Wednesday, Dec. 3, according to regional authorities.

Tambov governor Yevgeny Pervyshov reported on Telegram:

“A fire broke out at an oil depot in the Tambov region after debris from a Kyiv regime terrorist drone fell.”

“Fire crews and law enforcement officials quickly arrived at the scene. All necessary forces and resources have been deployed,” he added.

Pervyshov did not specify whether there were casualties or identify the oil depot.

However, the Ukrainian monitoring channel Exilnova+ reported that the strike hit the Nikiforovskaya oil depot in the village of Dmitrievka, roughly 45 km from Tambov.

The depot has 14 storage tanks with a total capacity of 10,440 cubic meters used for storing diesel fuel. It belongs to Rosneft and was previously part of Tambovnefteprodukt, the region’s largest supplier of fuel and lubricants, which was recently merged with Voronezhnefteprodukt.

A second attack was reported in Russia’s Voronezh region. Governor Alexander Gusev said a downed UAV caused “minor damage to several fuel tanks” at an oil depot but did not trigger a fire.

No casualties were reported, and the governor did not identify the facility.

According to Russia’s Defense Ministry, 102 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones were “intercepted and destroyed” over Russian territory overnight. The report mentioned Voronezh but made no reference to Tambov.

Ukraine has not commented on its involvement in the attack.

On Dec. 2, Ukrainian drones also struck a Rosneft oil depot in the city of Livny in the Oryol region, around 140 km southeast of Oryol, setting two fuel tanks on fire.
