Ukrainian Defense Forces struck an oil depot in Russia’s Volgograd region and several targets in temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories early Saturday morning, Jan. 10, Ukraine’s General Staff reported.
“Units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine struck the Zhutovsk oil depot (Oktyabrsky district, Volgograd region),” the statement said.
According to the General Staff, the target was hit, and the extent of the damage is still being clarified. The facility is reportedly involved in supplying fuel to Russian army units.
Earlier, Volgograd Region Governor Andrey Bocharov said on Telegram that a fire had broken out at an oil depot following the fall of UAV debris.
He added that residents living near the oil depot could potentially be evacuated.
“In case of evacuation of residents of nearby buildings, a temporary accommodation point at Oktyabrskaya School No. 2 has been put on standby,” Bocharov said.
Russian Telegram channels also reported missile and drone alerts in the Krasnodar region, with explosions heard. Some claimed the target was an oil refinery in Slavyansk-on-Kuban, though the General Staff did not confirm this strike.
In addition, the General Staff reported that a drone depot belonging to a unit of Russia’s 19th Motorized Rifle Division was hit in the occupied part of the Zaporizhzhia region.
Ukrainian forces also struck a Russian drone control point in the Pokrovsk area of the Donetsk region.
Further details released by the General Staff said that additional Russian targets were hit in occupied parts of the Donetsk region, including a concentration of personnel from the 76th Airborne Assault Division in Kurakhivka, a command and observation post of a tank battalion from the same division in Hyrnyk, and a control point of a unit from Russia’s 41st Army, also in Hyrnyk.
In all cases, the strikes were carried out by attack drones, and Russian losses are still being assessed, the report added.
