Russian forces struck the center of Sloviansk in the Donetsk region on Tuesday morning, March 10, killing at least four people and injuring 16 others, including a child.
According to the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office, one of the Russian munitions hit an apartment building, while two others exploded near residential buildings.
The head of the Sloviansk Military Administration, Vadym Liakh, said Russian forces struck the city with three guided aerial bombs.
Initial reports indicated two people were killed and 11 injured, but the number of casualties later increased.
“At least four people killed and 16 injured, including a child: police are documenting the consequences of the strike on Sloviansk,” the National Police of Ukraine said.
Among the injured is a 14-year-old child, while several apartment buildings and cars were damaged.
At the time of publication, investigators, paramedics, patrol police, and other emergency services were working at the scene as authorities continued to assess the full extent of the damage.
Law enforcement officials have opened a criminal case on charges of war crimes.
Russian troops attacked the cities of Dnipro and Kharkiv with drones early on Tuesday, March 10, damaging residential buildings and injuring civilians.
Dnipro Mayor Borys Filatov said at least eight high-rise buildings were damaged in the strike. According to the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration (OVA), Oleksandr Hanzha, 10 people were injured, including a 12-year-old boy, and one woman was hospitalized.
In Kharkiv, Mayor Ihor Terekhov said a Shahed drone struck the Kholodnohirskyi district, damaging private houses and outbuildings. A later strike in the same area hit a road between houses in the private sector. The head of the Kharkiv military administration, Oleh Syniehubov, said four people were injured in the morning attack and received medical assistance on site.
Earlier, on the evening of March 9, a separate Russian drone strike in Kharkiv’s Industrial district injured six people, including a 16-year-old girl.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia launched 137 drones overnight. Air defenses shot down or suppressed 122 UAVs, though 12 drones struck 10 locations and debris from downed drones fell in another 10 areas.
