Pryluky in the Russia-bordering Chernihiv region was attacked by drones, with the city council building struck on the morning of Tuesday, April 7, according to local authorities.
The RBC-Ukraine outlet, citing its correspondent, reported that at about 10:08 a.m., residents of the city heard the first explosions. In total, at least three loud blasts were recorded.
The Pryluky City Council building is located in the very center of the city at a busy intersection, where many people usually gather.
In addition, Russian forces also struck the building of the State Tax Inspectorate in the center of the border town of Novgorod-Siverskyi (Chernihiv region).
The head of the Novgorod-Siverskyi District Military Administration, Oleksandr Seliverstov, wrote on Facebook:
“The enemy has committed another act of aggression against the civilian infrastructure of the border region.”
According to him, at about 9:30 a.m., a Russian drone hit the center of Novgorod-Siverskyi. The drone struck the State Tax Inspectorate building, and the blast wave damaged the facades of nearby residential buildings and private vehicles.
Emergency services and law enforcement officers were working at the scene as of Tuesday afternoon.
According to the State Emergency Service (DSNS), a fire covering about 600 square meters (6,458 square feet) broke out following the strike on the State Tax Inspectorate building. Rescuers were working to extinguish the fire, and information about casualties was being clarified.
The Chernihiv region is under near daily fire from Russian troops.
According to a morning report by the head of the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration (OVA), Vyacheslav Chaus, on Telegram, Russia also continues to target energy facilities in the region.
On Monday evening alone, strike drones hit two districts of the region, with four strikes recorded in the Koryukiv and Novgorod-Siverskyi districts.
In the Snovsk community, a Geran drone struck transport infrastructure.
During the day, 67 explosions were recorded in the Chernihiv region.
A Russian FPV drone hit a civilian bus in Nikopol on April 7, killing three and injuring 16, authorities said.
Governor Oleksandr Hanzha said the strike occurred in the city center as the bus approached a stop, calling it a deliberate attack.
Russia launched 110 drones overnight, including Shaheds, Ukraine’s Air Force said. Air defenses downed or suppressed 77, while 31 struck targets across 14 locations.
In the Dnipropetrovsk region, an 11-year-old boy was killed and five others injured in separate strikes. Over 10 attacks hit four districts.
Fires, damaged homes, infrastructure, and power lines were reported in Synelnykove, Pavlohrad, Apostolove, and the Nikopol district.
