Russian forces struck several regions of Ukraine – Sumy, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Chernihiv, and Kharkiv – in a wave of drone and guided bomb attacks.
In the Sumy region, the city of Konotop came under a massive drone strike. Residential buildings, a hospital, administrative facilities, and the tram network were damaged. Tram traffic in the city is currently limited.
A separate strike hit the Yampil community, where Russia dropped guided aerial bombs. A kindergarten and residential buildings were damaged, and four people sought medical assistance.
Konotop Mayor Artem Semenikhin later reported disruptions to water and electricity supply following the attack.
“We have damage to part of the energy infrastructure... Part of the city is without electricity. In one of the microdistricts, water will be supplied on a schedule: 6-9 a.m. and 6-9 p.m.,” he said.
In the Zaporizhzhia region, two men aged 40 and 45 were injured in a morning strike. Both are in moderate condition, according to the regional military administration (OVA).
In Kryvyi Rih, in the Dnipropetrovsk region – the hometown of President Volodymyr Zelensky – Russian forces struck infrastructure facilities multiple times. The first strike killed one man and wounded another.
“Another morning enemy strike on an infrastructure facility – so far, unfortunately, one man has been killed and one wounded,” said Oleksandr Vilkul, head of the city’s military administration.
He later reported another strike on infrastructure, which injured a 52-year-old man.
Subsequently, Dnipropetrovsk OVA head Oleksandr Ganzha said that five people were injured overall.
“A 40-year-old man died. Five more men – aged 31, 32, 41, 45, and 57 – were injured. Medics are providing all necessary assistance,” the statement said.
In the Chernihiv region, overnight drone attacks hit two agricultural enterprises in the Novhorod-Siverskyi district, setting grain storage facilities on fire.
In the Horodnia community of the Chernihiv district, strikes on the private sector caused residential buildings and outbuildings to catch fire.
Due to the threat of repeated attacks, emergency work was temporarily suspended several times, and personnel were evacuated to safe locations. No casualties were reported.
Russian troops also struck the Kharkiv region. In the city of Chuhuiv, one person was killed and another injured.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, from 6 p.m. on April 27, Russia launched 123 strike drones, including Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas, and other types. Around 80 of them were Shahed drones.
Ukrainian forces shot down or suppressed 95 drones. Hits were recorded at 16 locations, while debris from downed drones fell in four others.
