Russian Drone Kills Baby in Marhanets High-Rise

Early Saturday morning, Aug. 15, Russian forces launched a drone attack on a high-rise residential building in Marhanets, Dnipropetrovsk region. The strike killed a three-month-old boy and injured 11 people, with seven hospitalized in critical condition. Separately, drones hit Zaporizhzhia, damaging a shopping center and an industrial enterprise. These attacks follow deadly strikes on Aug. 14 in the Donetsk and Cherkasy regions that killed at least one person and injured 18.

Early Saturday morning, Aug. 15, Russian forces struck a multi-story residential building in Marhanets, Dnipropetrovsk region, using attack drones, killing a three-month-old boy.

Oleksandr Hanzha, head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, reported on Telegram that 11 people were injured in the attack.

Seven of the victims were hospitalized in severe condition. Among the wounded are two children: a five-year-old boy and a 12-year-old girl.

Simultaneously, Russian troops launched a drone assault on the southeastern city of Zaporizhzhia.

The regional administration reported that the attack damaged a shopping center, sparking a fire, and hit an industrial enterprise.

Later, Ukraine’s State Emergency Service reported that rescue workers in Zaporizhzhia had extinguished two fires caused by Russian drone strikes on the night of Aug. 15.

At one location, pallets and shelving caught fire in a shopping center; at the other, the roof of a warehouse caught fire.

All emergency services were on the scene. The State Emergency Service deployed 23 rescue workers and seven pieces of equipment.

Cherkasy and Kramatorsk strikes

The Saturday morning attacks followed a wave of deadly bombardments across Ukraine on Aug. 14.

In the central Cherkasy region, a Russian drone struck a residential building in the Smila territorial community. Cherkasy regional governor Ihor Taburets confirmed the attack, stating that preliminary information indicated three people were injured.

Further east, in the Donetsk region, Russian forces struck the city of Kramatorsk and the nearby village of Bilenke eight times on Thursday evening.

Donetsk regional governor Vadym Filashkin reported that the strikes, which hit residential buildings, killed at least one person and wounded 15 others.
