Kherson Region Drone Attacks Injure 6 Civilians

Russian forces launched a series of drone strikes across the city of Kherson and the village of Molodizhne on Saturday morning, Sept. 5, injuring six civilians. The regional attacks occurred alongside a wider overnight aerial campaign across Ukraine, which included a deadly ballistic missile strike on an industrial enterprise in Kamianske that killed five people, and consecutive drone strikes on a Mykolaiv shopping center that injured two.

Russian forces conducted a series of drone strikes across the Kherson region on Saturday morning, Sept. 5, injuring six civilians.

In the regional capital, drone drops in the Korabelnyi district at approximately 8:00 a.m local time. injured two men, aged 62 and 77, on the street.

The Kherson City Military Administration reported that one sustained a shrapnel wound to the chest, while the other suffered a traumatic finger amputation.

Earlier, at 7:00 a.m., police transported a 59-year-old man to the hospital with explosive trauma from a separate drone attack.

In the village of Molodizhne, drone strikes around 6:30 a.m. injured three women. The Kherson Regional Military Administration reported that two women, aged 56 and 60, sustained shrapnel wounds to their arms, requiring the hospitalization of the older victim.

A third victim, a 56-year-old nurse, suffered a concussion and shrapnel wounds to her arm and leg while traveling to work.

Kamianske and Mykolaiv strikes

The morning drone assaults follow a fatal ballistic missile strike on an industrial enterprise in Kamianske, Dnipropetrovsk region, which killed five people and injured five others early Saturday.

Concurrently, Russian jet-powered “Shahed” drones struck an Epicenter shopping center in Mykolaiv late Friday and early Saturday, injuring a 72-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl in consecutive strikes.

The weekend strikes follow a Russian attack on the Kyiv region on Friday, which damaged a nine-story residential building in the city of Boryspil. The Kyiv Regional Military Administration reported that the strike ignited a fire on the roof and in an upper-floor apartment, prompting an emergency response.

The ongoing Russian aerial campaign coincides with President Volodymyr Zelensky’s Friday announcement proposing a mutual halt to air strikes during an upcoming diplomatic mission.

Zelensky stated that Ukraine would refrain from conducting strikes during the scheduled visit of US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Moscow, explicitly calling on Russia to observe the same pause.
