Russia Pounds Lozova Rail Hub Amid 46-Drone, Missile Barrage – 1 Dead, 10 Injured

Russia struck Ukraine with 46 drones and a missile overnight. A rail worker was killed in Lozova, others injured, and trains rerouted due to infrastructure damage.

The Russian army struck railway infrastructure in the town of Lozova, Kharkiv region, killing one person and injuring several others.

According to Ukrzaliznytsia, the strike damaged the railway station and other facilities. While most people managed to take shelter, there were casualties.

“A duty mechanic was killed, and four more railway workers were injured. All are receiving necessary medical care,” the statement said.

The State Emergency Service (DSNS) later reported the total number of injured had risen to 10, including 2 children.

Due to the shelling, train No. 66/65 -166/165 (Uman-Cherkasy-Kharkiv) was rerouted. Other trains in the Kramatorsk direction are expected to take a detour under a reserve diesel locomotive, causing delays of up to an hour.

Early on Aug. 5, Russia launched a mass drone attack on Ukraine using Shahed drones. Around midnight, drones were spotted in several regions. At 3 a.m., the Ukrainian Air Force reported they were moving toward Lozova.

According to Lozova Mayor Serhiy Zelensky, this was the most massive attack on the town to date. Damage was reported to critical infrastructure, apartment buildings, and the private sector. Rescuers, medics, and emergency services are working at the scene.

Meanwhile, in the Zaporizhzhia region, a Russian FPV drone struck Bilenke, injuring a 43-year-old woman and a 49-year-old man, according to regional governor Ivan Fedorov. Both are receiving medical assistance.

The Ukrainian Air Force reported that between 7 p.m. on Aug. 4 and the following morning, Russian forces launched 46 Shahed drones, decoy drones, and one Iskander-M ballistic missile at Ukraine.

Air defenses shot down or suppressed 29 drones over northern and eastern Ukraine, using aviation, missile troops, electronic warfare, and mobile fire units.

However, 17 drone strikes were recorded in the east, as well as 1 missile strike and 3 incidents of aircraft debris falling in the south and northeast.
