Ukraine has evacuated 57 people from Gaza on President Volodymyr Zelensky’s orders, Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Andriy Sybiha said on Tuesday.
48 Ukrainian citizens and nine Palestinian family members of Ukrainian citizens were among the evacuees, including 16 children.
The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense (HUR) published photos of the evacuated people on Telegram.
In a post on X, Sybiha wrote: “The evacuation was carried out in active combat territory, and two of the evacuees, a 26-year-old Ukrainian and a 58-year-old Palestinian, had injuries.”
“The evacuees received the necessary medical assistance from HUR medical specialists.”
“The evacuation flight has already arrived in Chișinău [Moldova], from where the group will continue their journey home. We congratulate them on their safe return.”
He also thanked Israel, Jordan and Moldova for assisting with logistics, transit and allowances to ensure the safe return of evacuees.
“On September 30, 2025, on the instructions of the President of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine team carried out an extremely complex operation to evacuate a group of our citizens from the Gaza Strip, where the security situation had deteriorated critically,” the accompanying statement read.
“Ukraine continues to care about the safety and protection of its citizens who find themselves in trouble anywhere in the world,” it finished.
The evacuation took place as US President Donald Trump, speaking to reporters, issued a “three or four day” deadline to Hamas to accept his 20-point plan to bring an end to the devastating conflict that has raged in Gaza for almost two years, following Hamas’ Oct. 7 2023 attacks.
The plan involves removing Hamas from any role in future governance of the territory and passing leadership to a temporary transitional body which would be overseen by an international so-called Board of Peace, with Trump at the helm.
