Russian forces struck multiple Ukrainian cities overnight, targeting civilian infrastructure and energy systems.
Russia launched guided aerial bombs (KABs) on Kharkiv overnight, damaging more than a dozen homes and injuring several civilians.
Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported on Telegram that at least four explosions were heard in the city, with strikes hitting two districts.
Initially, authorities reported four people suffering acute stress reactions. The number of injured has since risen to nine.
Later, Terekhov clarified that Russian KABs damaged at least 15 private houses in the Industrial District and confirmed another strike in the Nemyshlyanskyi District. Emergency services are still assessing the full extent of the damage.
Meanwhile, the city of Chernihiv was left completely without electricity or water following overnight Russian drone attacks.
According to the municipal utility “Chernihivvodokanal,” workers began restoring operations using backup power sources at 5.30 a.m.
“We ask residents to stock up on water in advance,” the company said, adding that water would be delivered to certain neighborhoods by tanker trucks.
The utility noted that its main task is not only to supply water but also to manage wastewater, which requires restarting more than 20 sewage pumping stations.
On the evening of Monday, Oct. 20, Russian drones and missiles struck energy infrastructure across the Chernihiv region, causing widespread blackouts in the town of Slavutych and parts of the Kyiv and Chernihiv regions.
Russia continued its attacks overnight, launching several ballistic missiles toward Chernihiv and nearby areas around 4 a.m. The strikes may have targeted a military training ground near the village of Honcharivske.
The head of the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, Vyacheslav Chaus, confirmed on Telegram at 7.45 a.m. that the region had come under a massive attack by strike drones.
“According to consolidated data from the Air Defense and Defense Forces, 51 air targets were recorded during the day, including two ballistic missiles,” he wrote.
Two Shahed drones hit a heat supply facility and a power facility in separate communities of the Chernihiv district. As a result, power was temporarily cut off in Chernihiv and several northern communities of the region.
Energy workers are currently working to restore supply. Critical infrastructure has been switched to generator power.
According to a report by the State Emergency Service (DSNS), rescuers in the Dnipropetrovsk region have eliminated the consequences of another Russian attack.
In the Bohdanivska community of the Pavlohrad district, an outbuilding caught fire following the strike. Another building and a private home were partially destroyed, and several cars were damaged.
“The aggressor also continued terrorizing the Nikopol district, using FPV drones,” the report said.
Two communities came under fire, resulting in a garage fire and damage to a private house and a car.
In the Synelnykove district, two more communities were hit by UAVs. The strikes caused fires in outbuildings and damaged four private homes, a car, and a gas pipeline.
All fires have been extinguished.
