Manufacturers Will Send Tomahawks ‘the Moment Trump Says Yes’ – Zelensky

US makers are ready to send Tomahawks to Ukraine “the moment President Trump gives a positive signal,” Zelensky told Kyiv Post, stressing that Trump “did not say no” and options remain open.

President Volodymyr Zelensky, responding to a question from a Kyiv Post journalist, said on Friday that US weapons manufacturers are prepared to immediately supply Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine if President Donald Trump gives his approval.

Speaking at a briefing in Kyiv he said Ukraine is working “first and foremost with the United States, the White House, and the President,” while also holding direct discussions with the missile producers themselves.

“Such a decision would be separate pressure on Russia, and it is important for us,” he said.

Zelensky emphasized that Trump has not rejected the request.

“President Trump did not say ‘no,’ and various institutions have given us positive signals regarding this decision. Of course, the final decision belongs to the US President,” Zelensky said.

According to him, the industry is ready to move quickly should the White House authorize the transfer.

“We discussed this with the manufacturers. If there is a positive signal from President Trump, they will gladly provide or sell the relevant systems,” he told reporters.

Zelensky said the talks with Washington also include other long-range capabilities, describing Ukraine’s goal as securing “a set of different solutions” to counter Russia’s strikes on civilian and energy infrastructure.

“We are working on this issue, and the chance that we will receive such systems definitely exists,” he added.

Ukrainian officials are engaged in “positive” negotiations with the United States over the purchase of Tomahawk cruise missiles and other long-range weapons, Ukraine’s Ambassador to Washington Olha Stefanishyna told Bloomberg.

In an interview with Bloomberg TV’s Balance of Power, Stefanishyna said discussions remain active, involving “a lot of delegations” working to expand the financial resources for Ukraine to acquire additional US military capabilities.

“The discussion is still ongoing,” she said. “It is not only Tomahawks but different types of other long-range and short-range missiles,” adding that the overall dynamic is “rather positive.”
