The Russians launched a massive drone attack on Kharkiv on Sunday evening, Nov. 23, killing and injuring multiple people.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, at 9:26 p.m. (19:26 UTC). several groups of drones were flying toward Kharkiv from the north and west.
Moments later, the first explosion was heard in the city, followed by another, and then a series of further blasts.
Suspilne Kharkiv reported that 17 explosions were heard across the city. Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov told local media that at least 12 strikes were carried out at five different locations.
According to the latest information, four people have been killed and 17 wounded in Kharkiv, including a 12-year-old child.
Police in the Kharkiv region said the strikes hit the Shevchenkivskyi, Kholodnohirskyi, and Saltivskyi districts.
Law enforcement reported damage and destruction to private houses, high-rise buildings, a garden community, and a civilian business. Fires broke out at several impact sites.
“Police officers are helping citizens, inspecting the scene, collecting physical evidence, and documenting the Russian war crime. Information has been entered into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations under Article 438 (war crimes) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine,” the police said.
The State Emergency Service (DSNS) released pictures showing the aftermath of the drone strikes: three residential buildings and an infrastructure facility were burning.
In the Kharkiv region, a fire also broke out at an agricultural business in the village of Moskalivka, Chuhuyiv district, following an overnight UAV attack.
“According to preliminary data, a 48-year-old woman was injured. About 60 pigs died. The farm caught fire,” the DSNS reported.
Rescuers and local firefighters later extinguished all the fires.
According to the DSNS, the border village of Zhadov in the Novhorod-Siverskyi district of the Chernihiv region also came under Russian attack overnight. Russian forces struck the area with UAVs.
“Hits were recorded on an unused building of the local fire brigade, as well as a residential house and an outbuilding. A fire broke out as a result, which was extinguished by the DSNS,” the report said.
According to preliminary information, there were no casualties in this attack.
