Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) eliminated several “Kadyrov’s fighters” near occupied Berdyansk in the Zaporizhzhia region, who had been running an illegal fuel-theft business.
According to a HUR statement on Telegram, two explosions were recorded on Nov. 29 as a result of a coordinated operation by Ukrainian intelligence and the Resistance Movement. Russian personnel from the so-called “Akhmat” unit suffered losses.
“Akhmat” is a combat unit of the Russian National Guard composed largely of Chechen security forces and directly subordinated to Chechnya’s leader, Ramzan Kadyrov.
Ukrainian partisans discovered that the “Kadyrov’s fighters” had organized a “schematosis” involving stolen diesel fuel, selling it at a fixed location along a highway near Berdyansk, HUR reported.
After mining the site, Ukrainian forces triggered two explosions when the Akhmat fighters gathered to trade. The first blast caused panic among the Russian personnel.
“Those who survived fled. Soon another enemy pickup truck arrived - then it detonated a second time,” the report said.
HUR released video footage of the operation, though Kyiv Post was unable to independently verify the time or location.
According to military intelligence, the operation destroyed two vehicles carrying Akhmat fighters. The exact number of casualties is being established.
In late July, HUR special forces conducted another successful ambush on Akhmat fighters near the village of Velyka Bilozerka in the Zaporizhzhia region.
The group advanced more than 30 kilometers into occupied territory, eliminated three Russian National Guard soldiers, and returned without losses.
“As a result of a vehicle detonation, three ‘Akhmat’ fighters were neutralized. During the operation, intelligence was also gathered on enemy logistics, equipment, and command posts,” HUR added.
