Russian Drones Wound Toddler in Zaporizhzhia, Hit Odesa Energy Facility

Ukraine’s Air Force said Russia had launched 125 attack drones since 6 p.m. on Feb. 9, including Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas, and other uncrewed aerial vehicles.

Russian forces attacked Vilniansk in Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia region with drones early Tuesday, Feb. 10, injuring several people, including a one-year-old child.

Ukraine’s State Emergency Service (DSNS) reported on Telegram:

“Russian drones attacked settlements in the Zaporizhzhia district. Fires broke out at several addresses due to shelling – residential buildings were burning. Nearby buildings were damaged by the blast wave.”

At one location, emergency responders freed two women and two children aged one and ten after forcing open a door damaged by the explosion.

Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration (OVA) head Ivan Fedorov confirmed the strike.

“The Russians attacked Vilniansk with drones. Private houses and outbuildings were damaged. Two women, a man, and a boy who was not even two years old were injured,” he said.

Russia also struck Ukraine’s energy sector in the Odesa region, damaging a critical infrastructure facility.

Odesa OVA head Oleh Kiper said the site was in the south of the region, without specifying the exact location.

“The enemy struck another cynical blow to the energy infrastructure of Odesa region. Damage to an energy facility was recorded in the south of the region, and a fire broke out. An administrative building was also damaged. No information about casualties has been received so far,” Kiper wrote.

According to him, the attack partially cut power to settlements in three communities. Critical facilities switched to backup generators, while repair crews began restoring electricity.

Separately, late on Monday evening, Feb. 9, Russia struck Kharkiv’s Shevchenkivskyi district with a drone.

Mayor Ihor Terekhov said a Molniya UAV hit at about 10:27 p.m. near residential buildings, damaging cars and nearby homes. Regional Governor Oleh Syniehubov later clarified that two cars and the windows of an apartment building were damaged. No casualties were reported.

Ukraine’s Air Force said Russia launched 125 attack UAVs from 6 p.m. on Feb. 9, including Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas, and other drones – around 70 of them Shaheds.

Air defenses, aviation, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems, and mobile fire groups repelled the assault.

As of 8:30 a.m., air defenses had shot down or suppressed 110 drones across northern, southern, and eastern Ukraine. Thirteen UAVs (uncrewed aerial vehicles) struck six locations, with falling debris reported at two additional sites.
