Russian forces attacked Zaporizhzhia and the surrounding region overnight, hitting an industrial facility in the early hours of Monday, Feb. 23.
A 33-year-old man was killed and a 45-year-old man was injured in the attack, according to Ivan Fedorov, the head of Zaporizhzhia’s regional military administration (OVA).
Two people were killed in the Odesa region, according to the State Emergency Service (DSNS).
The DSNS said a Russian drone crashed and set two trucks on fire, damaging several other vehicles, as well as infrastructure facilities. Elsewhere, a car dealership and trucks in a parking lot caught fire.
“Unfortunately, two people died and three more were injured as a result of the attack,” the DSNS said.
The regional military administration clarified that a 20-year-old woman and a man aged around 45 were killed in the attack. Three people between the ages of 23 and 45 were injured, two of whom are in serious condition. All of the injured are receiving necessary medical care.
Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction and Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksiy Kuleba revealed that Russian forces targeted port infrastructure in the Odesa region.
A freight transport storage area was damaged during the shelling.
“This is another blow to civilian logistics and port infrastructure. Russia is systematically attacking facilities that have no military purpose, attempting to undermine the economy of the region and the country as a whole,” he said.
One Russian drone also struck an apartment in a multi-story residential building; no fire broke out, and no injuries were reported at that address.
Russian forces also attacked eastern Ukraine’s Kharkiv, where locals reported a series of explosions.

Overnight, Russia carried out an airstrike on the Pokrovska community in the Synelnykovsky district. The blast wave damaged the local fire and rescue unit building, shattering windows and damaging the ceiling.
A fire also broke out in one of the apartments in a high-rise building, but firefighters extinguished the blaze.
