Russia stole around 2 million tons of Ukrainian grain in 2025 and sold it on international markets, Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said on Monday, March 23.
Kyiv previously estimated that Russia had stolen 15 million tons of grain from the occupied territories since the start of the full-scale war in 2022.
Speaking at the Black Sea Security Conference of the International Crimea Platform in Chisinau, Sybiha said the grain was exported to countries in Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Europe.
“About 40 percent went to Egypt,” he added.
Sybiha also said Russia has sharply increased attacks on port infrastructure in Ukraine’s Odesa region in recent months.
According to the minister, the number of recent strikes has exceeded those recorded in previous years.
On Friday, two people were injured in the Odesa region after Russian strike drones attacked two civilian commercial vessels carrying Ukrainian grain. The vessels in question were sailing under the flags of Palau and Barbados.
On March 5, a Panama-flagged ship transporting corn was damaged by Russian drones at the port of Chornomorsk, a city in Odesa region, in an attack which also injured crew members.
On Feb. 27, a 3-year-old girl and a 44-year-old man were hospitalized after Russia targeted civilian and port infrastructure in Odesa.
