Russia Fires 324 Drones, Killing 1; Zelensky Warns of More Strikes, Patriot Delays Loom

Earlier in the day, at a press conference in Norway, Zelensky warned of a possible overnight Russian strike and potential delays in Patriot missile deliveries.

Russian forces attacked Ukraine with missiles and drones in the early hours of Wednesday, April 15, causing casualties, fires, and widespread destruction.

Zaporizhzhia was among the hardest hit. Following numerous explosions, fires broke out across the city. A parking lot, a business facility, a bus stop, nearby residential buildings, and a kiosk were damaged.

A 74-year-old kiosk saleswoman who was inside at the time of the strike was killed.

In Dnipro, the attack caused a fire in an administrative building, while a nine-story residential building in the city center was also damaged. A 29-year-old woman was injured and received medical assistance.

In Cherkasy, Russian strike debris was recorded falling in several locations. At least three people were injured, though their condition has not been specified.

In Sumy, a drone struck an industrial zone, sparking a fire that rescuers later extinguished. Russia subsequently hit the same location twice more. Preliminary reports indicate no casualties.

Russian forces also attacked port infrastructure in the Odesa region with strike drones. Fires were reported, and warehouse and administrative buildings were damaged.

According to preliminary data, no casualties were recorded, and the fires were quickly contained. Damage assessments and cleanup operations are ongoing.

According to Ukraine’s Air Force, Russia launched three Iskander-M ballistic missiles and 324 drones overnight, including Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas, and other unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) types, from seven directions starting at 6 p.m. on April 14. Approximately 250 of them were Shahed drones.

The attack was repelled by aviation, air defense missile units, electronic warfare systems, unmanned systems, and mobile fire groups.

As of 7:00 a.m., Ukrainian air defenses had shot down or suppressed 309 drones across the north, south, east, and center of the country.

At the same time, ballistic missile strikes and 13 drones were recorded hitting 9 locations, while debris from downed targets fell in 10 locations.

Earlier, during a press conference with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre on Tuesday evening in Oslo, President Volodymyr Zelensky warned of the possibility of another overnight Russian strike.

He also recalled that on April 14, Russian forces struck a gas station in Dnipro, injuring around 30 people and killing 5.

“And at night there may be another Russian strike. There are a lot of Shaheds in the sky over Ukraine now. Perhaps missiles will also be involved,” Zelensky said.

The president also warned of potential delays in deliveries of Patriot air defense missiles.

According to Zelensky, the supply of PAC-3 missiles could slow due to the situation in the Middle East.

Zelensky added that Ukraine is already working with partners, including countries in the Middle East and Europe, to find alternative supply sources and strengthen the protection of Ukrainian airspace.
