Ukrainian gymnast Taisiia Onofriichuk won the gold medal in the hoop exercise at the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.
According to Ukrinform, Onofriichuk secured the victory with a score of 30.700 points in the final. Italy’s Sofia Raffaeli won the silver medal with a score of 30.500, while Germany’s Darja Varfolomeev took the bronze with 30.400 points.
The victory marks Onofriichuk’s first career gold medal at the World Championships. It is also Ukraine’s first world title in rhythmic gymnastics since 2013, when Ganna Rizatdinova won gold in the same discipline.
Onofriichuk is scheduled to compete next in the clubs final.
Mahuchikh secures third European high jump title
Onofriichuk’s victory follows another gold medal for Ukraine in international sports. Yaroslava Mahuchikh won the women’s high jump at the 2026 European Athletics Championships in Birmingham, England, clearing 1.97 meters.
Mahuchikh cleared 1.92 meters and 1.95 meters before securing the gold on her first attempt at 1.97 meters. Poland’s Maria Zhodzik and Montenegro’s Marija Vukovic took silver and bronze, respectively, with both athletes clearing 1.95 meters.
Fellow Ukrainian Iryna Herashchenko finished fifth with a jump of 1.92 meters.
The win in Birmingham represents Mahuchikh’s third consecutive European Championship title, adding to her victories in 2022 and 2024.
The achievement ties the record for the most European Championship titles in the high jump, previously held solely by Spain’s Ruth Beitia, who won three consecutive gold medals in 2012, 2014, and 2016.
