On Thursday, July 17, special forces of Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence (HUR) from the “Freedom of Russia Legion” carried out a successful ambush against fighters from the “Akhmat” unit near the village of Velyka Bilozerka in Zaporizhzhia region.
Advancing more than 30 kilometers deep into temporarily occupied territory, the soldiers eliminated three Russian National Guard troops and returned without casualties, according to HUR.
“Akhmat” is a combat unit of the Russian National Guard composed primarily of Chechen security forces and directly subordinated to the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov.
“As a result of a vehicle detonation, three ‘Akhmat’ fighters were neutralized. During the operation, intelligence was also gathered on enemy logistics, equipment, and command posts,” the HUR statement reads.
The agency also released a video of the operation, adding that “the Freedom of Russia Legion addresses all peoples oppressed by Moscow, as well as servicemen of the occupying forces: your lives are disposable to the Kremlin command.”
