Russian Drones Strike Civilian Infrastructure in Kharkiv Overnight

Russian drones struck Kharkiv in the early hours of May 19, hitting civilian infrastructure in the city’s Novobavarskyi and Kholodnohirskyi districts. The attack follows another Russian drone strike on Sunday that damaged homes, shattered windows and set cars on fire. No casualties were reported.

Russian forces attacked Kharkiv with drones late Monday into Tuesday, striking a civilian infrastructure facility, according to Mayor Ihor Terekhov.

According to Terekhov’s Telegram channel, emergency crews from Ukraine’s State Emergency Service were working at the scene to deal with the aftermath of the strike.

Oleh Syniehubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, said Russian UAV strikes were recorded in the city’s Kholodnohirskyi and Novobavarskyi districts.

The latest attack follows another Russian drone strike on Kharkiv overnight on Sunday, when residential areas of the city were hit. The attack damaged private homes, shattered windows and caused seven parked cars to catch fire.

However, local officials said no casualties or injuries were reported.

The back-to-back strikes highlight relentless Russian aerial pressure on Kharkiv.

In a statement following the incidents, Mayor Ihor Terekhov expressed gratitude to Ukraine’s Defense Forces and air defense units, crediting them with destroying a significant number of aerial targets launched at the city and helping save lives, homes and streets.
