The Ukrainian Defense Forces struck several Russian military targets on Friday, Sept. 4, including a mesh-network repeater in the Bryansk region used to coordinate “Shahed” drone attacks, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on Saturday, Sept. 5.
According to the military update, the repeater was located in the city of Zlynka. In addition to the drone infrastructure, Ukrainian forces targeted a radar station in Kartushyn and an electronic warfare complex near Pohar, both situated in Russia’s Bryansk region.
Within occupied Ukraine, the Defense Forces also struck a Russian repair base in Sokilohirsk in the Luhansk region. The General Staff noted that the extent of the damage to these facilities is currently being assessed.
Previous strikes target ports and logistics
The Friday operations follow a widespread Ukrainian drone campaign earlier in the week.
On Tuesday, Sept. 1, Ukrainian drones struck the Ust-Luga port in Russia’s Leningrad region, a major export hub on the Baltic Sea, causing a fire that was later extinguished. The incident prompted neighboring Estonia to scramble NATO fighter jets after drones reportedly breached its airspace.
Drone strikes on Tuesday also targeted Russia’s Samara region, causing damage to structures in Novokuibyshevsk near a major oil refinery and an electrical substation. The Russian Defense Ministry claimed its air defenses intercepted 516 Ukrainian drones across 18 regions during the overnight attacks.
Concurrently, the Ukrainian General Staff confirmed a series of strikes on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1 targeting drone storage and launch facilities in occupied Donetsk and Crimea. During those operations, Ukrainian forces also struck a communications hub in Myrne, a command post in the Zaporizhzhia region, and a fuel depot in Russia’s Belgorod region.
