I am confident that they won’t [be involved],” Ilyin said responding to a question as to whether foreign companies will be working off the coast of Crimea.

Ilyin said Crimea does not need a considerable increase of oil and gas extraction.

“Some 2.5 billion cubic meters of gas a year will be enough for the internal consumption of Crimea on condition that 20% of the districts [of the Republic of Crimea] that are not gasified yet are gasified. We can, of course, speak about increasing gas extraction to 3-3.5 billion cubic meters [a year], but the question is what to do with it, where to sell it,” Ilyin said.
