The General Staff of the Ukraine Armed Forces of Ukraine (UAF)  today released an update on the estimated total losses inflicted upon invading Russian forces in Ukraine, including the death of more than 36,000 Russian troops and the destruction of thousands of military vehicles and pieces of equipment.

In a statement posted on Facebook,  the UAF General Staff, stated that in the past 24 hours alone, Russian troops suffered severe losses in Slovyansk and across Donetsk Region, as Ukrainian forces continue to present strong defense and counterattacks.

Since the instigation of President Putin’s brutal invasion of Ukraine in February, 2022, Russia’s total combat losses, as claimed in the UAF  statement, include:

  • 1,594 tanks
  • 3,772 armored fighting vehicles
  • 806 artillery systems
  • 247 multiple launch rocket systems
  • 105 anti-aircraft warfare systems
  • 217 aircraft
  • 187 helicopters
  • 2,634 motor vehicles and fuel tanks
  • 15 warships/boats

An additional 144 Russian cruise missiles have been shot down, with numerous missiles destined for the city of Dnipro being shot down by Ukrainian forces in the early hours of July 5.

The city has become an apparent target of the Russian occupiers in recent days following missile attacks on the smaller city of Kremenchuk, to the north-west of Dnipro.

In a further humiliating blow for Putin, on Thursday, June 30, Russian troops were forced to flee from ‘Snake Island’, known as Zmiyny Island locally, the strategically important outpost in the Black Sea.

Ukrainian forces launched a fierce wave of long-range strikes against the Russian Federation (RF)-occupied Snake Island, with a Joint Forces South (JFS) statement confirming that UAFmissile and artillery units executed at least 150 fire missions against the 1.5 kilometer-square island before the Russians carried out a full-scale evacuation.

According to international and UAF estimates, the Kremlin had positioned powerful anti-aircraft and anti-ship missile systems on Snake Island. The JFS statement said the Ukrainian strikes destroyed an S-300 Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft system, three howitzers, three vehicles, causing at least 40 casualties, and burned a fuel storage depot. RF-associated information platforms made no early comment on the UAF claims.

The island has been intensely fought over by both sides, with Ukraine carrying out large attacks on the Russian occupiers there over the past four months.

The outpost became a symbol of Ukrainian resistance after a radio exchange went viral at the start of the war in which Ukrainian soldiers used an expletive in response to Russian demands from the Moskva missile carrier that they surrender, giving the now famous message: “Russian warship, go f*ck yourself.”
