Christopher Hyland served as Deputy Political Director for Ethnic Constituencies in President Bill Clinton’s 1992 Presidential Campaign and chaired the Clinton Eastern Europe Presidential Transition Conference. A specialist in Balkan political affairs with deep knowledge of Iranian dynamics, he has been actively engaged in championing democratic transitions. He currently serves as Special Envoy to North America and Europe for the Bektashi Worldwide Headquarters, a transnational Sufi-Shia institution based in Tirana, Albania. A graduate of Georgetown University Edmond A. Walsh School of Foreign Service, he is also a recipient of the Gandhi Peace Award for his contributions to interfaith dialogue and democratic engagement.
