The European Parliament hosted The Path of Grain, a photo exhibition organized by Kernel — Ukraine’s largest grain exporter and a global leader in sunflower oil — together with the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club (UCAB) and with support from the Mission of Ukraine to the EU.

Based on the Kernel art book The Path of Grain, the exhibition uses emotive photographs and illustrations to depict the difficult journey of Ukrainian grain from field to table around the world during wartime. It served as a powerful reminder of the severe challenges Ukraine’s agricultural sector faces due to the Russian aggression. It underscores the critical role of Ukrainian grain in global food security and highlights the urgent need for continued international support — not just military aid, but also economic and logistical assistance to keep Ukraine feeding the world.
The opening of the exhibition brought together prominent European opinion leaders, including Vsevolod Chentsov, Ukraine’s Representative to the European Union. “We are experiencing turbulent times, with both Ukraine and Europe confronting new challenges. However, I am confident that our partnership will remain strong and our cooperation unwavering. This exhibition serves as a powerful reminder to Brussels of the hardships Ukraine’s agricultural sector faces during wartime. A single photograph can convey more than a thousand words,” he noted.
Also speaking was Member of the European Parliament and Co-Chair of the EU-Ukraine Parliamentary Association Committee, Pekka Toveri, who stressed the urgency of adopting a new trade agreement between Ukraine and the EU: “We must urgently approve a new agreement to replace the current autonomous trade measures after June 6. Ukraine is not only fighting for its freedom, but also giving Europe time to recognize the threats and mobilize support. That’s why Parliament is urging the European Commission to implement effective solutions to ensure uninterrupted exports of Ukrainian agricultural products to the EU. This is not just an economic issue—it’s a matter of justice.”
The Path of Grain exhibition also highlighted the ongoing need to protect Ukraine’s agricultural infrastructure, including the ports of Odesa, which continue to endure daily Russian attacks. As Kateryna Spivakova, Kernel’s Director of Communications and Government Relations, stated: “60% of Ukraine’s exports come from the agricultural sector. The blockade of the Black Sea made it clear that global food security is impossible without Ukrainian agricultural products. We are grateful for the support provided to our country, and despite the war, constant shelling, and ongoing dangers, we continue to deliver food to the countries that need it the most.”
About the Book The Path of Grain
The Path of Grain is a limited-edition art book initiated by Kernel to highlight the vital role of Ukrainian agro-exporters in preserving global food security. The book opens with an address from the President of Ukraine and features a foreword by renowned historian Yaroslav Hrytsak, who traces the journey of Ukrainian grain across centuries up to the present day.
The book is designed as a diplomatic gift for representatives of international missions, partners, negotiators, and opinion leaders around the world — those who have the power to influence support for Ukraine during wartime.
The Path of Grain was first presented in December 2024 at the Grain from Ukraine summit, initiated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and at the International Agricultural Exhibition in Berlin. In January 2025, it was also showcased at the Ukrainian House as part of the World Economic Forum in Davos.
Photographs from the book are now being exhibited in EU diplomatic missions across the Global South and in Ukrainian embassies worldwide.
