For 90 days, Kyiv residents and visitors can admire the ORIGAMI for UKRAINE art installation on the facade of the Museum of Kyiv History. The piece was installed on April 9 with the support of Andrii Matiukha’s Foundation. Five thousand birds made of metallic paper shimmering in the sun have become a significant social initiative. The project’s goal is to raise funds for the rehabilitation of wounded Ukrainian soldiers and to demonstrate European support.

The art object was created in 2025 thanks to close cooperation between Brussels and Kyiv. Its author is the renowned Belgian designer Charles Kaisin, who has collaborated with Rolls-Royce, Hermès, Cartier, and Ice-Watch. Kyiv schoolchildren, including students from the Palace of Children and Youth, also took part in the project.

From the very beginning, Andrii Matiukha’s Foundation has actively supported the promotion of this noble initiative. According to the organizers, over 20,000 museum visitors and passersby saw the project in the first months alone. Publications about ORIGAMI for UKRAINE appeared in over 40 media outlets, including ten of international reach.

“Art is about action. About how beauty can influence reality. A beautiful symbol of hope has been created — one that fuels belief in a brighter future and supports those in need,” said the foundation’s founder, Andrii Matiukha, in a comment to journalists.

Thanks to ORIGAMI for UKRAINE, more than €55,000 has already been raised to purchase medical equipment for a rehabilitation center in Kyiv. Part of the funds has already been transferred to the facility, but the campaign continues. Organizers report that anyone can purchase one of the paper birds for a symbolic €10, becoming part of this vital mission.

It is through such initiatives that a space is formed where art not only has a voice but also the real power to change lives.
