A cargo ship carrying grain from a Russian-occupied region of Ukraine has been detained by Turkish customs authorities, according to the Ukrainian ambassador to Turkey, local Ukrainian media outlets report.

Vasyl Bodnar said “We have full cooperation. The ship is currently standing at the entrance to the port, it has been detained by the customs authorities of Turkey”.  The Russian-flagged ship left the Russian-occupied Ukrainian port of Berdyansk in Zaporizhzhia Region and was detained in Karasu on Turkey’s Black Sea coast.

Some 20 million tons of Ukrainian grain are currently blockaded by the Russian navy and forces in ports in southern Ukraine.
