President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine in a phone call with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron briefed the latter on the situation on the front lines and discussed the issues of security and Ukraine’s European integration.

That’s according to President Zelensky’s tweet, seen by Ukrinform.

“Had another phone conversation with French President @EmmanuelMacron. Informed about the situation on the front. Discussed further defense support for Ukraine and work on security guarantees,” the tweet reads.

Special attention was paid to Ukraine’s path to the EU, according to the Ukrainian president.

“[W]e are coordinating steps,” Zelensky wrote.

As reported earlier, ahead of the European Council meeting, scheduled for June 23-24, MFA France recalled the initiative, voiced by President Macron, to create a “European political association.”
