Speaker for the NSDC information center Andriy Lysenko said at a
briefing in Kyiv that the town is of great significance and that if the
army assumes control over it, deliveries of supplies to militants will
be blocked.
“Fighting continues there now… Now it is truly very hot there. And
our military our doing their utmost to retake it as soon as possible,”
he added.
Lysenko said the Ukrainian army observes all rules of combat to prevent damage to the local population and infrastructure.
Krasny Luch is located in the southwestern part of Luhansk region 20
kilometers to the east of the MH17 crash scene. At the beginning of 2013
it had population of 124,000.
