“As a result of the performed activities it was found out and documented that two jack-up rigs, the Petro Hodovanets and the Ukraina, which in 2014 were illegally seized by the Russian Federation during the annexation of Crimea, have been moved out of the zone of Odesa gas field closer to the Crimean peninsula,” the press service of the agency said, adding that the location of the rigs is being specified.
The press service stressed that Russia in the place, where previously the jack-up rigs were located, is installing the Tavrida oil extracting platform, which was also illegally seized in 2014.
“The coast guard ship of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine recorded the fact of gross violation of the norms of international maritime law and the law of Ukraine on the exclusive (maritime) economic zone of Ukraine. The crews of the ship and the oil platform were informed on the violations,” the press service said.
Interested ministries and departments were also informed on the facts of these violations.
