PUBLIC OPINION: USA Abandoning Ukraine? Or just Trump GOP?

Kyiv Post surveyed in DC, Austin, and London to ask people whether they thought the US was abandoning Ukraine or whether it was only a far-right group of Republicans holding up Ukraine aid

A proposed $60 billion in aid to Ukraine passed a US Senate vote but has been held up for months in the House of Representatives.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian troops lacking crucial ammunition have had to abandon positions to invading Russian forces.

Kyiv Post took to the streets of Washington DC, Austin and London to ask people whether they thought the US was abandoning Ukraine or whether it was only a far-right group of Republicans holding up Ukraine aid.

Expect the worst as far as the US is concerned. Trump will win in a landslide. What he does next is anyone's guess.

Trump is a bag man for Putin, bought and paid for so he follows orders like the attack lap dog he is. Putin says bite. Trump bites. And he bites Ukraine because his first impeachment involved Ukraine.

In 1940, the GOP tried to scuttle the lend lease act, fortunately for the world the Democrats held both houses and the presidency. I don't know what is with these POS politicians and dictators, but it's alarming.

It really makes no difference whether just one group in the USA... the result is Americans have abandoned Ukriane they sit back and watch Ukrainians die, cities being destroyed...

the positive comments from the citizens makes no difference, the lack of support is killing Ukriane. the US has never supported Ukraine's goal to win this war...

The USA wants Ukraine to wear Russian troops down only, and if this means Ukriane must eventually surrender than that is just fine with AMericans...

Shameful how the USA is a f$$kep nation today, the governance model is broken and the nation is moving fast to a "Failed STate". If trump loses the election there will be a violent insurrection.

trump will give anything Putin wants and he cares nothing about Ukraine.
I think that the next time the US invokes Article 5, NATO and nations need to take time to consider why anyone should support a nation that refuses to make its commitments... no one can depend on the USA!

Priority One: The US wants to avoid nuclear war with Putin. The US wants stalemate. Then wait for the whole bloody mess to get much worse, slowly attrit the Russian military and economy until the Russians give up, but never go over the line into nuclear. The US can wipe out a feeble antiquated Russian military in 15 minutes in a conventional war. One ATACMs missile wipes out an airfield of helicopters. So best to not let Urkaine have too many ATACMS and win, but cynically let Ukraine just survive a brutal battle of attrition, and planned stalemate. Let's blame it on Mike Johnson, who is everybody's stooge, Putin's stooge, Trump's stooge, but also the US military planners stooge. All this withholding of military support is very deliberate. Just enough, but not too much. Like Germany....

From what I've seen most Republicans still admire Reagan and support Ukraine's cause. Democrats are also to blame for how they avoid negotiating and compromising with the GOP. Personally, I think Trump would continue arming Ukraine providing it is not completely funded as grants, so would still do lend-lease.

@MRGA troll Stan:

The negative quotes about rump from his former advisors continue below:

19. His former personal lawyer and fixer, Michael Cohen: “Donald’s an idiot.”

20. His White House lawyer, Ty Cobb: “Trump relentlessly puts forth claims that are not true.”

21. A former director of strategic communications, Alyssa Farah Griffin, who is now a CNN political commentator: “We can stand by the policies, but at this point we cannot stand by the man.”

22. A top aide in charge of his outreach to African Americans, Omarosa Manigault Newman: “Donald Trump, who would attack civil rights icons and professional athletes, who would go after grieving black widows, who would say there were good people on both sides, who endorsed an accused child molester; Donald Trump, and his decisions and his behavior, was harming the country. I could no longer be a part. of this madness.”

23. A former deputy press secretary, Sarah Matthews, who resigned after January 6: “I think that his actions on January 6 and the lead-up to it, the way that he’s acted in the aftermath, and his continuation of pushing this lie that the election is stolen has made him wholly unfit to hold office every again".

24. His final chief of staff’s aide, Cassidy Hutchinson: “I think that Donald Trump is the most grave threat we will face to our democracy in our lifetime, and potentially in American history.”

Can MGRA trolls better judge putintrump than the top White House appointees he himself hired?

Given rump's busy criminal legal life he has fortunately hired other experts to handle foreign policy, national security ...etc.

So lets see what his former cronies have to say about him:

1. His vice president, Mike Pence: “The American people deserve to know that President Trump asked me to put him over my oath to the Constitution. … Anyone who puts himself over the Constitution should never be president of the United States.”

2. His second attorney general, Bill Barr: “Someone who engaged in that kind of bullying about a process that is fundamental to our system and to our self-government shouldn’t be anywhere near the Oval Office.”

3. His first secretary of defense, James Mattis: “Donald Trump is the first president in my lifetime who does not try to unite the American people – does not even pretend to try. Instead he tries to divide us.”

4. His second secretary of defense, Mark Esper: “I think he’s unfit for office. … He puts himself before country. His actions are all about him and not about the country. And then, of course, I believe he has integrity and character issues as well.”

5. His chairman of the joint chiefs, retired Gen. Mark Milley, seemed to invoke Trump: “We don’t take an oath to a wannabe dictator. We take an oath to the Constitution and we take an oath to the idea that is America – and we’re willing to die to protect it.”

---and even more quotes from about rump from his former advisors:

12. His former acting chief of staff, Mick Mulvaney, who resigned as US special envoy to Ireland after January 6, 2021: “I quit because I think he failed at being the president when we needed him to be that.”

13. One of his many former communications directors, Anthony Scaramucci: “He is the domestic terrorist of the 21st century.”

14. Another former communications director, Stephanie Grisham: “I am terrified of him running in 2024.”

15. His secretary of education, Betsy DeVos, who resigned after January 6: “When I saw what was happening on January 6 and didn’t see the president step in and do what he could have done to turn it back or slow it down or really address the situation, it was just obvious to me that I couldn’t continue.”

16. His secretary of transportation, Elaine Chao, who resigned after January 6: “At a particular point the events were such that it was impossible for me to continue, given my personal values and my philosophy.

17. His first secretary of the Navy, Richard Spencer: “…the president has very little understanding of what it means to be in the military, to fight ethically or to be governed by a uniform set of rules and practices.”

18. His first homeland security adviser, Tom Bossert: “The President undermined American democracy baselessly for months. As a result, he’s culpable for this siege, and an utter disgrace.”

It is clearly Fascist Trump and those whom he has twisted their minds with a endless stream of literally thousands of lie. Trump is a Putin supporter and so of course he would not want any aid for Ukraine. Unfortunately we have republicans in congress willing to do anything Trump tells them to do and he has told them not to support any aid for Ukraine. These Fascist evangelical Republicans have turned their backs on truth and democracy. They have also turned there backs on true Christianity and have accepted a false Christianity which is actually doing the work of Satan. I would not like to be in their shoes when they stand before God and hear the words, depart from me you workers of iniquity I never knew you. These Evangelical preachers that have so mislead their people to the point they now mistake evil for good. Millions of people in the USA have been mislead and those people that have done this will pay the price of their own soul by going to hell themselves and taking millions of others they have mislead with them. There is support for Ukraine with the majority of Americans but the MAGA Fascist Republicans in congress will not even allow a vote of funding because they know it would pass if the MAGA head of republicans in the house would being it up for a vote. So far he has not allowed that as he is following order from Trump.

@Lobo, It is ANY Republican choosing to hold up Ukraine support through voting with mentioned caucus, as well as any "peace" caucus of "progressives" or "independent" or other designation.

Understand that any single House action not taken to overcome russian agentic individuals, whether or not trump or johnson, whose electoral campaign was KNOWN thrpugh IRS and other specific documentation to have included russian funding and funding associated with russophile actors.

Where is the House filing of Discharge Petition?
Where Motion to Vacate Speaker position?

WHOEVER fails to file either or both can be regarded as implicated in russian agency in the attempt to genocide Ukraine and Ukrainians.

- More quotes from about putinrump from his hired advisors:

6. His first secretary of state, Rex Tillerson: “(Trump’s) understanding of global events, his understanding of global history, his understanding of US history was really limited. It’s really hard to have a conversation with someone who doesn’t even understand the concept for why we’re talking about this.”

7. His first ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley: “ A terrible thing happened on January 6 and he called it a beautiful day.”

8. His presidential transition vice-chairman, Chris Christie: “Someone who I would argue now is just out for himself.”

9. His second national security adviser, HR McMaster: “We saw the absence of leadership, really anti-leadership, and what that can do to our country.”

10. His third national security adviser, John Bolton: “I believe (foreign leaders) think he is a laughing fool.”

11. His second chief of staff, John Kelly: “A person that has nothing but contempt for our democratic institutions, our Constitution, and the rule of law. There is nothing more that can be said. God help us.”

@STAN, Putin declared war on the West 20 years ago. We are just now noticing. Ukraine is our front line. Putin has said he will take over our NATO allies next. Each nickel we spend now will save a dollar when that occurs -- not to mention the US troops we have promised if Russia attacks.
