“It is an obvious step aimed at preventing Ukraine from association with Europe and signing the Association Agreement,” member of the UDAR parliamentary faction Oksana Prodan told an Interfax-Ukraine reporter on Wednesday, when asked whether the decision of the Russian customs service to put all Ukrainian importers on a list of potentially risky imports could be a political step.

The MP stressed that Ukraine, without a doubt, has to take all necessary measures in order to find out the reasons for this decision.

“Both countries are members of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and today the Ukrainian government and the Verkhovna Rada [Ukraine’s parliament] should initiate the consideration of the issue at the WTO in order to apply appropriate sanctions to the side which initiates restrictions for Ukraine without any explanations,” Prodan said.
