· Russia’s assault on the Donbas town of Bakhmut has largely stalled. This is likely primarily a result of extreme attrition of the Russian force. Ukraine has also suffered heavy casualties during its defence.
· The Russian situation has also likely been made worse by tensions between the Russian Ministry of Defence and Wagner Group, both of whom contribute troops in the sector.
· Russia has likely shifted its operational focus towards Avdiivka, south of Bakhmut, and to the Kremina-Svatove sector in the north, areas where Russia likely only aspires to stabilise its front line. This suggests an overall return to a more defensive operational design after inconclusive results from its attempts to conduct a general offensive since January 2023.

I'm just an ordinary American that doesn't know a whole lot about war. But I say the U.S. and NATO should give President Zelensky everything he asks for. Give the Armed Forces of Ukraine everything they need to win the war instead of only giving them enough to prolong the war. I say give Ukraine fighter jets, attack helicopters and long range missiles and send some of those missiles to Moscow. You can't win a war if you're constantly giving in to Putin's fear mongering. Putin doesn't want a nuclear war either. Stop worrying and start bombing Russia just like Putin bombs Ukraine, and the result? Putin surrenders. We call it, “Peace Through Strength.”
@ThoughtLife.God, Great post. One of the best I've seen coming from here in the US of A.
@Jack Griffin, Thank you Jack! Nice of you to say.
ONE WOULD HAVE THOUGHT... The whole of Europe would have an overwhelming desire to defeat Russia in Ukraine, so that Europe would not have to try to defeat Russia in Poland, Latvia, or Finland. Russia's war on Ukraine is on Europe's doorstep, and it affects Europe substantially more than it affects the United States. So why is it that the U.S. has given more military, financial, and humanitarian aid to Ukraine than all other countries in the world combined?
@Douglas Nusbaum, Hey Douglas, every time you type a post in on of these dialog boxes, you then have to type in your name and e-mail address. I don't know where your posts are going but they do not appear.
@Jack Griffin, Hmm, I wonder what he wanted to say??
