On April 2, experts who visited Mikheil in the hospital published a report on his state of health. According to the doctors' conclusions, the patient's condition is serious.

"After February 19, he lost 4 kg, it is difficult for him to move due to weakness. When standing up, there occurs a drop in pressure and loss of balance. Mental functions are impaired. The patient entered the phase of active catabolism. Because of further weight loss, he will become bedridden, as the muscles of his lower limbs will be completely atrophied, and he will not be able to move due to weakness. The critical weight for the patient is 52-53 kg, after which irreversible changes in the body will begin," the report says.

"Peripheral and autoimmune neuropathy appears again, causing a critical drop in blood pressure when standing up. Currently, it is dangerous for the patient to move without supervision, as the risk of falling, injuries/fractures is very high. In the case of the latter (fracture), the resources of the body at the stage of cachexia for wound or fracture healing are very low, which with a high probability will lead to the cascading development of other critical complications (hemorrhages, infection, deep vein thrombosis, etc.) that could result in a fatal outcome," it reads.

On February 10, Poland took offered to receive Mikheil Saakashvili for treatment. Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki announced this at a press conference following the European Council meeting in Brussels.

President of Georgia Salome Zourabichvili, in turn, said that even with her pardon, Saakashvili would not be released from prison.

As reported, Mikheil Saakashvili, who is now a Ukrainian citizen, was detained in Georgia on October 1, 2021, when he came to his homeland after an eight-year absence. He was charged with illegal border crossing, which, according to the investigation, he committed on September 28, secretly arriving at the port of Poti from Ukraine on a vessel carrying a truckload of dairy products. The former president and his supporters consider the punishment politically motivated.
