Dmytro Lubinets, the Ukrainian ombudsman, revealed on Thursday, April 13, that the Defense Intelligence Services of Ukraine have acquired knowledge of who executed the Ukrainian soldier in the video.
In an interview with Radio Svoboda, Lubinets said that he had spoken with representatives of the intelligence agencies the day before.
"According to their assumptions, they have a good idea of who did it, in which area it occurred and who directly participated in it. In particular, we know which person carried out the execution," he noted.
However, Lubinets did not give more details and refrained from commenting whether or not the execution of the Ukrainian soldier was carried out by terrorists of the private military company "Wagner."
The Security Service of Ukraine has launched a pre-trial investigation into the incident. The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine is collaborating with special services to identify the deceased and the war criminals.
President Volodymyr Zelensky has called on world leaders to condemn the Russian atrocities. Czech President Petr Pavel has already commented on the video, stating that if the execution is confirmed, it will place Russian soldiers in the same category as members of ISIS, which we should all condemn.
